TNO joins E2PACKMAN with two departments: CITC and Radar Technology. TNO-CITC focusses on the development and improvement of electronic packaging technologies in the fields of power, RF, and photonics. TNO-CITC runs research programs in collaboration with key European industrial players who benefit from the results of these joint research programs. TNO-CITC's research innovations support the competitiveness of its European industrial partners.

TNO-Radar Technology has extensive experience with radar systems and integrated front-end technology, firmly rooted in traditions dating back to the 1930s. The core knowledge of this department lies in the research and development of novel miniaturised microwave front-ends, MMICs, antennas, radar signal processing, and radar signature management. All development activities are covered, from system specification to product engineering, from test design to evaluation. TNO provides innovation and consultancy services to government and industry to help solve complex and challenging technical problems and drive technological innovation.

Role

TNO is a research institute (RTO) that provides the E2PACKMAN consortium with access to expertise, innovation, and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, both in the field of packaging technologies and integrated RF design and testing.

Key Contribution

TNO-CITC will develop a novel panel-level additive fan-out technology and demonstrate its feasibility, contributing to one of the Power use cases in close collaboration with other partners.

TNO-Radar Technology will design RF test structures to characterise partners’ packaging technologies and for very low loss and compact transitions and integrated passive devices, supporting 3D and 2D integration of RF circuits and components.
