Silicon Austria Labs (SAL)

Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is Austria's top research center for Electronics and Software Based Systems (ESBS).

At three loca¬tions (Graz, Villach, Linz), around 350 employees are working on future-oriented solu¬tions for indus¬trial production, health, energy, mobility, safety and more. SAL brings together key players from industry, science and research and thus valu¬able exper¬tise and know-how and conducts cooperative, application-oriented research along the ESBS value chain.

Cooperative projects (in accordance with European state aid law) are co-financed by SAL and enable a fast and unbureaucratic project start. SAL is thus shaping the high-tech loca¬tion Austria and Europe and unfolding the future.

Role

SAL as project partner will contribute to different work packages. Specifically, SAL will contribute to the use case C3.A: cryogenic platform for quantum. Here, SAL’s focus will be on the development of advanced photonic assembly and low loss photonic interfaces for ion trap quantum devices.

Key Contribution

SAL will contribute to the development of cryo-compatible photonic assembly and photonic interfaces for the open quantum computing device with submicron alignment accuracy and lower coupling losses.
