The majority of Okmetic’s wafers are manufactured at the company’s headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. The large fab expansion completed in 2025 adds the company’s production capacity significantly. Role
Okmetic is the country coordinator for Finland in the project, focusing on two main areas: wafer-level RF packaging and MEMS packaging. For RF, the work involves developing and producing customized High Resistivity silicon wafers for 5–100 GHz 6G filters, enabling low-loss wafer-level packaging. For MEMS, the focus is on delivering tai developing low-defect, high-quality C-SOI® wafers and TSV interposers that enable reliable hermetic packaging and advanced device performance. Okmetic is also working on enhanced polysilicon vias and related processes to improve reliability across the MEMS value chain and to enable new applications that leverage TSV technology.
Key Contribution
Okmetic brings extensive expertise to the project, built on decades of experience in silicon wafer manufacturing and processing. The company has world-class know-how in silicon substrate optimization for low-loss RF components and MEMS sensor technologies. Okmetic is experienced in integrating advanced tools and processes, ensuring smooth collaboration across the value chain. In addition, Okmetic is able to supply high-quality silicon substrates for testing within the project to enable practical validation and faster progress toward the project’s technical goals.
