Murata Electronics Oy, Vantaa, Finland, is a research and production unit of electronic components based on 3D MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technology.
Murata Electronics Oy (former VTI Technologies Oy) is part of Murata since 2012. This unit is specialized in the research, design and production of silicon based capacitive 3D MEMS sensors: accelerometers, gyroscopes, combined sensors and inclinometers. Main application areas are automotive, medical and demanding industrial applications.
Role
Murata is involved in several different topics and work packages of the project, and one of the projects’ uses cases of the project is related to Murata’s application.
Key Contribution
Murata participates in eight out of nine work packages.
In WP2 “Design, modelling and simulation”, Murata acts as task leader of two of the tasks. Murata contributes by making a miniaturized MEMS sensor component design and by developing simulation methods for the sensor system.
In WP3 “Materials and Interfaces”, Murata acts as task leader of one of the tasks. Murata contributes to WP3 contents by studying the contribution of assembly materials to the performance of the sensor in vibrating application environments.
In WP5 “Process Automation and Smart Manufacturing”, Murata is developing robust optical inspection methods and technologies for optically challenging materials in high volume production environment.
In WP6 “Electrical testing and reliability”, Murata will validate simulation models developed in WP2.
WP7 “Demonstration and Assessment”, Murata will provide a use case of a miniaturized MEMS sensor based on molded component housing. Results of other technical WP’s can be applied and utilized for the use case.
