INEGI

INEGI, the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, is a Technological Interface Centre (CIT), dedicated to carrying out technologically based research and innovation activities, technology transfer and technological consultancy and services oriented towards the development of industry and the economy in general. INEGI is a private, non-profit institute classified as a public utility organization by the Portuguese Government.

Role

With a long track record in material and component mechanical characterization and monitoring at macroscopic level, INEGI will physically scale-down its capabilities for application in the microelectronics domain to CITC roadmaps on Power and RF packaging in Die attach uniformity + Delamination /Cracking /Voiding, Material properties characterization with advanced monitoring technologies in image processing and speckle interferometry and Failure Analysis, with thermomechanical loading and analysis methodologies as well as UT for packaging performance analysis.

Key Contribution

INEGI brings experience in large scale infrastructure analysis of thermomechanical physical effects and non-destructive inspection, to the microelectronics semiconductor manufacturing domain, where these phenomena have a clear impact on both failure and reliability issues.
